Wildlife Learning Center recently welcomed a young gray fox that California Fish and Wildlife determined to be non-releasable. Sadly, he had become too habituated to people after being fed in a backyard in Northern California. Although the homeowner meant well, this human interaction caused the fox to lose his ability to forage naturally, making him dependent on people and unable to survive in the wild.

This is an important reminder of why we should never feed wildlife—what seems like kindness can ultimately harm the very animals we care about.

Now, this beautiful little fox will live at Wildlife Learning Center, where he will receive lifelong care from our animal care team. And we’d love your help in giving him the perfect name! We’ve narrowed it down to four choices, and you can vote below.

Voting closes on Friday, September 12th.
